Meyer Turku signs an agreement with Royal Caribbean Group for the fourth Icon class ship— with options for two additional Icon class ships

Meyer Turku Shipyard and Royal Caribbean Group have signed a ship contract for the fourth Icon class cruise ship.The agreement also includes options to build a fifth and sixth Icon class ship.The fourth Icon ship will be delivered in 2027.

The employment effect of the now confirmed order is calculated to be 13,000 person-years.

With this announcement, Royal Caribbean Group continues to drive its moderate capacity growth to help guests turn a vacation of a lifetime into a lifetime of vacations.

The second and third vessels of the Icon series are currently being built at the Meyer Turku shipyard. They will be delivered to Royal Caribbean Group in 2025 and 2026. In the long shared history of Meyer Turku and Royal Caribbean Group, the Icon series has been preceded by, among others, the most advanced ships of their time, Allure of the Seas (2010), Oasis of the Seas (2009) and Voyager of the Seas (1999). With this order, Meyer Turku will have built 21 ships for Royal Caribbean Group over 28 years.

The agreement is contingent upon customary conditions, including financing.

The Meyer Turku Oy shipyard is specialized in the construction of very demanding, innovative, and environmentally efficient cruise ships, car ferries, and special vessels. Our share of the global cruise construction market is approximately 15%, and our shipyard's order books extend to 2026. Our largest customers are Royal Caribbean International, TUI Cruises, the Finnish Border Guard andCarnival Cruise Line.
