Are you looking for an internship or an opportunity to write your thesis? The Meyer Turku shipyard has several Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis workers every year, and we provide several compelling topics for theses. We also have interesting summer job opportunities every year.
Meyer Turku engages in cooperation with schools and students on a variety of fronts to match the competence needs in shipbuilding with the fields of study offered at educational institutions. The cooperation extends to universities, universities of applied sciences, vocational institutions, upper secondary schools, as well as primary education.
Cooperation with student organisations provides a direct connection to students and creates beneficial opportunities for all parties. Meyer Turku organises shipyard visits to student groups, presents career change options in the industry and actively participates in student events and fairs. Key elements needed to make the cooperation succeed include maintaining close contact with educational institutions’ contact persons and teaching staff, and active participation in the collaboration efforts.
In addition to universities, Meyer Turku wants to reach students, teachers and study counsellors in upper secondary education. By opening up job opportunities in the marine industry, the aim is to ensure that the sector continues to attract skilled professionals in the future as well. In cooperation with NYT Yrityskylä learning module, we provide sixth to ninth-graders with positive experiences of working life, economy and the society. At Yrityskylä’s Meyer Turku miniature shipyard, primary school pupils get to explore various shipyard duties, while the game arena allows lower secondary school pupils to manage a company in the international market.
Organised on the national Technology Tuesday, the Koulut goes Tekno event invites local ninth-graders and their teachers to acquaint themselves with the marine industry and the career paths it provides. To learn more and sign up for the event, see Technology Industries of Finland’s website.
